About Telstra Air
Telstra Air is Australia’s largest Wi-Fi network. Eligible Telstra customers enjoy free Wi-Fi data at over 1 million Telstra Air hotspots across Australia and millions of Fon hotspots overseas.
What is Telstra Air?
Telstra Air customers can connect to Australia’s largest Wi-Fi network to access unlimited data using your smart phone, mobile device or laptop.
When you’re out and about, Telstra Air automatically connects you to the nearest hotspot in range via the Telstra Air App.
Who can use it?
Telstra Air is available to Telstra customers who have at least one of the following services:
- Mobile on a plan
- Home broadband (ADSL, Cable or nbn™ services with a compatible gateway)
- Mobile broadband
If you don’t have one of the above services you can purchase a Telstra Air Guest Pass here.
Where can I use it?
You can use Telstra Air at over 1 million hotspots across Australia at public payphones, local council areas, residential areas and business centres.
Telstra Air customers can access over 19 million hotspots across the world through our partnership with Fon.
How to use Telstra Air
1. Activate your service
You must activate your service to use Telstra Air.
Even if you have more than one service, you only need to activate one of them to access Telstra Air.
2. Find a hotspot
Once you’ve activated your service and you’re near a hotspot, turn on the Wi-Fi on your device and select “Telstra Air” from your Wi-Fi list.
Telstra Air will only work if you’re near a hotspot – whether it’s a home hotspot, a business gateway or a payphone down the street.
3. Connect and enjoy
Now you can start enjoying your free data. You can use Telstra Air on up to three devices at a time in Australia just by logging in to Telstra Air with your Telstra ID.

The Telstra Air App:
- Automatically connects you when in range of a hotspot
- Helps you locate your nearest hotspots, and directs you to them
- Can be used it within Australia and across the world.
Want to know more?
Does it impact my home data allowance?
No. Your home Wi-Fi signal is separate from our Telstra Air and Fon signals. This means your data and information will be kept separate from Telstra Air. When others use your residential hotspot, it won't affect your home broadband allowance.
What is a Telstra Air Guest Pass?
Telstra Air Guest Passes let you access Telstra Air if you don’t have an eligible service or you’re not a Telstra customer. With a guest pass you can access unlimited data from Australia’s largest Wi-Fi network at over 900,000 hotspots around Australia by buying a guest pass.
Is Telstra Air safe to use?
Like most public Wi-Fi networks, Telstra Air is an unencrypted and open network. We don’t recommend using it for things like internet banking or sending and receiving sensitive materials.

Eligible Telstra home broadband service and compatible gateway required to become a Telstra Air member.
